Jakarta, 31 January 2012 – Modern lifestyles unknowingly reduce water levels in the body through poor eating habits, exposure to air conditioning, and other habits such as smoking. This problem not only affects fitness, but also has a direct impact on our organs and skin.
Education on this issue was discussed in depth at the “Nivea Skinversation Class” event. The event featured Dr. Grace Judio-Kahl, CEO of LIGHT Group, as a guest speaker.
The Role of Water in Body Health and Organ Function
dr. Grace explained that water plays a major role in the human body system. Approximately 60 percent of the human body consists of water, which is distributed throughout almost all organs. Water helps protect organs and body tissues from functional disorders. Water plays a role in dissolving minerals and nutrients so that they can be easily absorbed by the body. Water also helps maintain a balanced body temperature. In addition, water supports the kidneys and liver in removing metabolic waste and helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to all cells in the body.
The Role of Water in Beauty and Skin Health
Water is not only important for physical health, but also has a direct effect on the skin, hair, and nails. Adequate water intake helps maintain skin moisture and supports cell regeneration. dr. Grace also said that it is important to maintain fluid balance in the body. Excess fluid can cause overhydration or edema, while insufficient fluid can lead to dehydration. The lungs, kidneys, and skin work together to regulate water levels in the body. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, an unbalanced diet and drinking habits, and excessive exposure to air conditioning can reduce body water levels and affect skin health.
Understanding the role of water in body and skin health highlights the importance of meeting daily water intake needs as a simple yet effective step to maintain overall wellness and healthy, well-cared-for skin.
