dr. Grace Launches Educational Book on Eating Patterns for Children

Jakarta, 25 April 2014 – Obesity is no longer just a problem for adults, it is also experienced by many children. Interestingly, children’s eating habits often stem from their emotional state. To assist parents in introducing healthy eating habits to their children, dr. Grace Judio-Kahl has created an educational book specifically designed to help parents teach healthy eating habits to children using easy-to-understand language.

Through illustrations by Lala Bohang, this book tells the story of Dio, Bocil, and Imut, three ant children who live with their family. Because their ant parents are very busy collecting food, these three ant children often feel lonely. Unfortunately, they choose to bottle up their feelings because they don’t want to burden their parents.

Emotional Relationships and Eating Habits
The impact of these pent-up emotions varies from child to child. When faced with problems, Dio and Bocil tend to eat nonstop, while Imut loses her appetite completely. Through this story, dr. Grace wants to emphasize that introducing healthy eating habits to children must also involve understanding their feelings, so that food is not used as an emotional escape.

Guide for Parents
Launched in June 2013, this book not only contains stories for children, but also comes with another guidebook entitled “Solusi Tanpa Stres untuk Anak Gemuk” written by dr. Grace Judio. In addition, there is also a BMI Wheel tool specifically designed for children to monitor their ideal growth and development.
This educational initiative offers parents an engaging and practical way to introduce healthy eating habits to children. With a warm and relatable approach, children are encouraged to recognize their body signals and emotions, helping them build a healthier relationship with food from an early age.
